The Flu Season

written by Will Eno
directed by Michelle Seaton

Performed August 24, 2005 – September 24, 2005
in the Theatre Noir at Theater! Theatre!

Edward Albee has said, “Will Eno is one of the finest young playwrights I have come across in a number of years. Eno’s work is inventive, disciplined and, at the same time, wild and evocative.” The Flu Season is an intriguing, philosophical play, a post-modern deconstruction of a story of burgeoning love in a psychiatric hospital. It is always fascinating, constantly unpredictable and not too far below the surface there is an allegory about the uncertainty of life.

REVIEWS
“As with other Theatre Vertigo productions, the acting ensemble, directed by Michelle Seaton, is strong… As the Man, Mario Calcagno has a magnetic energy… Heather Rose Walters offers a moving portrayal of the fragile, lonely Woman.” – The Oregonian

“The Flu Season is no mere sendup of mental health care. It’s a sickness, not a satire. And Theatre Vertigo’s strain of the virus is characterized by hot flashes of insight, chilling honesty and loads of lightheaded hilarity.” – Willamette Week

“Mario Calcagno and Heather Rose Walters as Man and Woman have a touching, childlike chemistry… Vertigo’s talented ensemble delivers tight performances and solid production values.” – Alison Hallett, Portland Mercury
