At the well-past-its-prime Hotel Splendide, a group of restless and penniless tourists have taken residence. While two artists search for redemption (and rent for their room) in a mysterious red plastic suitcase, a washed out writer spins a yarn that threatens to overtake the entire play: the wandering saga of a man in search of the perfect flake: the serially unlucky Coconut Joe. Radioactive birds, eternal youth serum derived from lemurs and an abusive Devil puppet are just a few of the tricks Jenkin has up his sleeve as he explores the depths people go to when all they can see is the end of the line.

REVIEWS
“A
lot of sheer bravado is wrapped up in this collaboration of actors from
Theatre Vertigo, director (James Moore) and designers from Defunkt Theatre,
and puppet makers from Tears of Joy Theatre. And bravado is the show’s main
attraction: This is a four-on-the-floor joyride through the thickets of
theatrical and literary style…” – Bob Hicks, The Oregonian
“Both
innovative companies [defunkt and Vertigo] have proven to be volatile in their own right, but
together their chemistry is downright explosive.” – Johanna Droubay,
Willamette Week
