Where’s My Money?

Written by John Patrick Shanley

Directed by Ben Plont**

“I don’t know any other way to put this. You’re a whore.” Marriage and its discontents are the subject of Where’s My Money? When Celeste, an out-of-work actor runs into Natalie, the two have some catching up to do. Natalie gives the impression of being very together and does not approve of Celeste’s lifestyle. But Natalie’s marriage with Henry is hanging by a thread, as the past comes back to haunt her. Meanwhile we meet Sidney, a divorce lawyer with a pet theory that one partner in every marriage will be unfaithful, so it might as well be you. Sardonic and caustic, Where’s My Money? vivisects the institution of marriage with Shanley’s inimitable razor-sharp wit.

REVIEWS

“John Patrick Shanley’s anti-marital comedy may read like a particularly bitter dramatic interpretation of “Love Stinks,” but in the hands of Ben Plont and the ensemble at Theatre Vertigo, it becomes a delightfully absurd skewering of the things we do to the people that we love.” – Ben Waterhouse, Willamette Week

“Theatre Vertigo does ample justice to John Patrick Shanley’s acidly funny comedy about the way past relationships can haunt us.” – Eric Bartels, Portland Tribune
